Mono

We live in a world of colour, but a camera only sees in shades of grey – in 256 shades from pure white to pure black – and so, sometimes, an image can be more powerful in mono than in colour. 

Digital cameras enable the photographer to easily convert images from colour to mono, and to even compare the two versions side by side.
